Topic: Growing Pains – Scale Hurts.

Vibhu Srinivasan and Ed Kraay present their experiences working on a scaled Scrum project. For one year, five interrelated scrum teams worked to develop a game, inspecting and adapting along the way. This practical session will share the first hand experiences and hard fought lessons on what worked and what didn’t when we scaled scrum . Vibhu will share the technical practices and Ed will describe the project management tips and tricks.

About the Speakers
Vibhu Srinivasan is and Agile Coach, Architect and technologist from the Seattle area . He has an engineering background and an MBA from School of Business , UW Madison. He is an expert in the financial domain particularly insurance and brokerage systems. He had the unfortunate title of Lead Architect in the game services project that he is talking about. Ed Kraay is a ScrumMaster and agile coach. He has been working with Scrum and XP teams for four years and software teams for eight. The last book he read on Scrum was “Manage It” by Johanna Rothman and the last book he read for pleasure was “Two Years Before the Mast” by Henry Dana.

South African Scrum Users Group has announced it’s first meetings

Peter Hundermark (a Scrum Coach based out of South Africa) has announce the first meeting of the South African Scrum Users Group. He announced it on the Agile Announcement mailing list (here) and has arranged a time and venue for their very first meetings. If you’re in the area, I would encourage you to attend. Here are the details:

Cape Town: Wednesday 27 August from 18h00 (The Pavilion Conference Centre, Waterfront).

Pretoria/Johannesburg/Gauteng: Thursday 28 August from 18h00 (Momentum Auditorium 1, 268 West Avenue, Centurion).
